Hugs

Last week I went to NYC with my family and it was freezing. I've never been that cold before. It didn't matter that I was wearing 4 layers of clothes, the cold still seemed to be burning my skin. So there was a point when my little brother told me he also was cold and I decided to hug him to make him feel warmer (counting on the theory that our bodies produce energy, therefore heat). From that moment on, each time that we saw that the other was too cold, we'll hug each other to stay warm. There were times when, instead of saying we were cold, we ended up asking the other for a hug.

Today (or should I say "while I was in NYC I was"...) I'm grateful for hugs. Big fat WARM hugs. Long hugs. Friendly hugs. Meaningful hugs. Hugs. Because when someone hugs you, no matter what type of hug it is, it doesn't even matter if it is just intended to warm you, a hug shows that someone cares. Someone cares that you feel welcome. Someone cares that you feel loved. Someone cares that you're happy in your birthday. Someone cares enough to hug you to make you feel better, to make you feel warm. What are you grateful for?

Art + nature

There are many places with great decorations. People put a lot of effort making all sort of decorations for holidays like easter, christmas and don't forget halloween (that it's supposed to be scary but a lot of time this decorations end up being beautiful!). There's also the design-freaks that change their living room every month and like reading Design and Decor magazines to get inspired. But the desing master, the decor queen, the one that just can't go wrong, she that has all the experience in the subject and didn't went to Marangoni: mother nature.

I think one of the greatest things that happened to me this week, was when I was in my car in the middle of the traffic, bumper to bumper, and suddendly, i had right next to me this beautiful tree with yellow flowers. It was so beautiful, the way the sun was shining right above it made me think it was a perfect piece of art. From that moment I started to notice how nature decorates all our days with its colors and designs and now I feel like I'm living inside a painting.

Today I'm grateful for the art of nature. Have you seen all the colors that sorround us? Take a minute and go outside, or at least see through the window and you'll see that the perfect colors are on our green trees, that the best degradations are in our blue sky, and when the sun rises: there's perfection. You'll see that there's no greater design in a magazine than the design of nature and the way it's all perfectly set together. What are you grateful for?

Little kids

When was the last time you yelled with happines after seeing a hot dog? Well, last night I was home and my little cousins were here playing with my little brother. The smallest one was "grounded" and he told me he was very, very sad. Then I came back with a hot dog and told him it was for him, and suddendly, you couldn't believe the change it made in his face. He literally jumped of happiness. He made one of those faces you could only see in children, like if it was the first time he saw such a thing.

Today I'm grateful for having little kids in my family. You see, somehow kids find the magical in the most ordinary things. Like hot dogs. They have the power to understand that wonderful things surround us, and to be amazed by the most little details. Being surrounded by kids is the perfect way to remind myself of all those amazing things that I have to be grateful for. What are you grateful for?

two healthy legs

Today I was in my tennis class and by the end of it I was very tired. I missed almost every shot for the last 15 minutes of the class because I was too lazy to move my leg and go one step further so I could reach the ball. Then, I started thinking how easy it is for me just to think that I wanna get closer to the net and immediately my legs would start moving forward.

Today, I'm grateful for my two healthy legs that take me wherever I want. What a better transportation than two healthy legs? Don't need gas. Eco Friendly. Free. I should start walking to places instead of using the car, that way i would prevent the possibility of becoming one of the fat people from Wall-E... but maybe my possibilities of melting would increase (really hot weather).

But really, I have two legs that act according to my thoughts and needs. Thanks to them I can walk to the kitchen 15 times a day to open the fridge and confirm one more time that it's time to go to the super market. Thanks to them I can run up stairs (i mean literally use the stairs) when the elevator is taking too long and I really need to pee. Thanks to them I can pass the ball to my little brother. Thanks to them I can jump of happiness. Thanks to them I get to dance when I feel like ruling the world. Thanks to them I can get on my knees and pray. What are you grateful for?

communication technologies

I love the idea of letters. The fact that someone would took the time to write something with his/her own hands so that you could stay in touch or simply know how the person was.. there's something beautiful about that. However, i must say that i hate waiting, so i would go mad waiting for replies. Imagine waiting for days and you still don't receive any reply. Then you start thinking that the letter might got lost in the mail, but wait, what if the other person didn't reply at all. Then you'll have this whole dilemma: to write again or not to write again.

Today I'm grateful for communication technologies. It makes goodbyes so much easier. You can be miles apart from a person but still talk 24/7. You can share good news, bad news, and even send a picture of something that reminds you of the other person. You can share your whole life by just clicking Send. We are about 8 billion people in the world and still, we manage to stay in touch with each other, and everything thanks to technology. We can know every detail of something that just happened 1 minute ago in the other side of the world. We can share our ideas with people we haven't even met yet. And of course, at 12 am on the 31st of December, we can talk to a machine that gets our voices to other people's machines and say "Happy new year!" What are you grateful for? Send.

having the courage..

Today I finally decided to make this blog. I laid in my bed with my laptop and started writing. Just like that. I always wanted to write something, it didn't matter what it was, but I was sure I wanted to do it. Don't you think it is amazing how people can put their thoughts into words? You can actually know what people have it their minds, and it's just because they let you know with the words they write.

I've told some friends about my dream of someday being able to write something, and I always got the same reply: "..then do it". I don't know why it seemed so difficult to me, every time I tried to write I got scared. And the funny thing is, I don't dream of writing beautiful love poems to put on hallmark's cards or to be the next J.K.R., I just wanted to write. Write my thoughts and share them with whoever wanted to know them. So today I decided to follow the advise my friends gave me and do it. So I just did it.

For this new year I wanted to begin being more grateful, so I decided that it was the perfect thought to share. The idea of being more grateful. So for my first post I wanna be very honest with you and say from the bottom of my heart that Today I'm grateful for having the courage to write, for having the courage to follow one of my dreams and just write. Some of you may get it, some of you may don't. It doesn't matter. I just wanna know, what are you grateful for?
